Moos Coat Rack

Inspired by Moos, the iconic furniture piece by Jens van Deursen, this coat rack reimagines a sculptural seating object as a functional wall-mounted design. Moos is known for its distinctive blend of colour, minimalism and contemporary character—qualities that encouraged us to rethink its form and ask how it might be used in new ways.

By translating the original concept into a smaller, refined scale, we explored how its soft folds could become practical hanging points for everyday items. Through careful experimentation with proportion and spacing, the design evolved into a coat rack that balances visual impact with functionality. The object was developed through an iterative 3D modelling process, allowing us to refine its form, test alternative orientations and introduce a reversible mounting concept that supports intuitive use.

The final design is a sculptural coat rack composed of three continuous, rounded elements that create generous folds for coats, bags and scarves. It can be mounted in either direction, offering flexibility in placement and encouraging playful interaction. A concealed fastening system ensures a flush fit against the wall, preserving the clean, seamless appearance of the form.

Available in multiple colours and adaptable configurations, the coat rack functions both as a practical storage solution and as a bold visual accent. Suitable for compact interiors or expressive modular arrangements, it brings colour, character and contemporary design to everyday spaces.
